Public Health Approaches in Policing and Serious Violence Across the UK: The Learning so Far

We are delighted to be part of the National Four Nations Webinar Series: “Public Health Approaches in Policing and Serious Violence Across the UK: The Learning So Far”.

Det Ch Supt Sue Clarke, head of Lancashire Violence Reduction Network will be speaking on Monday at 12pm:

“A public health approach to violence prevention and trauma informed practice in Lancashire”

Lancashire Constabulary CC Andy Rhodes will be speaking at 10am on Wednesday:

“Systems Leadership – 30 years of learning”

Margaret Williams, health lead at Lancashire Violence Reduction Network will be holding a session at 3pm on Thursday:

“Policing and Health working and commissioning together – the NHS England/VRU/ICS blueprint”
– Catherine Randall, Deputy Head for Safeguarding, NHS England; Margaret Williams, Executive Safeguarding Lead, Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) & Elizabeth Ratcliffe, Deputy Director of Quality & North West Regional Lead for Safeguarding, NHS England & NHS Improvement North West

Inspector Dave Oldfield of Lancashire Violence Reduction Network will be speaking about the DIVERT intervention programme at 12pm on Friday.

“Learning from Divert and expansion beyond police custody suites”
– Jack Rowland, Chief Inspector and Dave Oldfield, Inspector, Lancashire Violence Reduction Network

With 15, 50-minute individual webinars of over the week, the series will have a strong focus on learning from practice that is currently being tried, tested, and delivered across the four nations.

Key areas to be covered include:

  • An introduction to public health approaches – What is it and how will it benefit my working practice?
  • Crisis response utilising public health approaches
  • Whole system public health approaches
  • Early intervention and prevention
  • Trauma informed practice

The webinar series is free to access and will provide a unique opportunity for online discussion and debate. Each session will be accompanied by CPD accreditation.

The sessions have been structured to benefit a variety of multi-agency sectors, including law enforcement and public health practitioners, policymakers and researchers from public health teams, response policing professionals and leaders, violence reduction units, multi-agency system leaders, future/horizon scanners, and early intervention and prevention specialists.
